Here he is....Lord Shiva, the Destroyer in meditation on the Ganges. The white plaster makes hime really stunning. This statue is out on a platform in the middle of the water and they hold regular light ceremonies on and around it to honor him. It is said that in a time of drought, the gods requested water form the heavens to relieve the earth. The goddess who bestowed this water said if she let it all fall to earth it would cover the earth completely with its force. So, Shiva let his hair down so she could pour the water through the net of his matted hair and thus the Ganges could flow moderately through the land. Thanks, Shiva.
